Advocacy & Lobby

In as far as Zimbabwe and most of the world’s countries have ratified Conventions and Instruments on the rights of the girl child, not much has been done in terms of implementation of those rights. It is TaLI’s cause to create a safe place for the girl child, to advocate and lobby for policies, laws and instruments that ensure the protection of girl child. Advocacy and lobby would be done through song, poems, in workshops, in collaboration with likeminded organizations, coalitions and bodies as well as our funding partners.

To date, TaLi has participated in the following events in its Advocacy and lobby efforts; Constitution Making Process with special interest in the girls’ issues, through partnerships with the Women’s Coalition of Zimbabwe(WCoZ), Road Map to Elections; demanding a safe and secure space for the girls during elections also through the WCoZ, 2011 International Women’s Conference where we participated in the Peace Building cluster, International Women’s Day which had a special interest on the education of girls, The ongoing National Gender Policy review; with special interest in the Justice Delivery system where the current law is encouraging rape as offenders are given a US50 bail.
